Boycotting the Olympics
In the run up to the Berlin Games of 1936--the Nazi Games-- I was quite pleased to discover, a lawyer in New York of Irish Catholic descent brought a boycott movement to within a handful of votes of victory. I was quite happy to come across his story and thought that I'd provide a link to it here. Jesse Owens, who distinguished himself forever at the Berlin games and showed up the 'supermen' was opposed, arguing, perfectly reasonably, that the American South was just as bad for blacks at the time. Check it out.
