On the Last Day of August...

The picture is Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee, by Rembrandt, from 1633.

Most people I know are worrying about how they are going to get through September. I long ago learned that anger, and fear, were conjoined monsters of no real worth to anyone, but that they sprang from despair. That's why the church in its wisdom makes the latter, with its embrace of nothingness, the fount of the most serious sins.

What more can one do, than recall the demented Man of La Mancha dreaming impossible dreams? At least the old loon lived, and not just because he had Sophia Loren at his side, in her prime (when was she not?).

I want an excuse to play this fantastically mad clip, and hope it inspires. Good luck, next month, and don't give in--strap yourself to the mast and dare those waves on :)
