Barack Obama Does Something Very, Very Smart
The President of the United States has taken a leaf out of the book John Kennedy would have written with Barry Goldwater in 1964, had he lived, and gone off to a Congressional Republican meeting and taken questions on a sort of Professorial basis. This says an awful lot for him, and for what admiring the great debater Abraham Lincoln can do to the American mind.
I think that the ground is cracked beneath him, but even so--this is exactly the sort of thing that needs to be laid out. People need to see the debate. What next? Joe Biden on Fox?
I also can't believe that people like Paul Ryan are still pushing this line-item veto silliness. I think that is dangerous nonsense, a bit like balanced budget amendments and flag amendments, and I liked Obama's answer to it.
