Why was Fr Ted so funny?

Blackadder seems to have dated. I wonder if Fr Ted will as well. I hope not.

"what'd ye say t'a cup of tea, Father?"

"Feck off, cup!"

And totally not relevant here, but to a previous combox: just had lengthy tea&chat with the immediate male ancestor, in which among many other things I said more or less what I wrote about my maths education - namely, that it wasn't really maths as a science, not maths as such, just bits of maths. Having seen what we were doing, and being a physicist/mathmo himself, he said "yes, it was arithmetic, really" (and some other mathmo words that I didn't know what they meant in this context), and agreed.

This imho is all tied up with the history of philosophy in Britain, but that's an uneducated pontification for another time :)

I remember when Jack got obsessed with a pet brick, all so that the writers could get the line 'I love my Brick' in. Priceless.
