Um, Ground Control to The Congressional Budget Office...

And so forth and so on. Britain's government is doing everything possible to postpone stagflation, which it now probably won't, whilst relying on the media to jump up and down and point at the euro. Really, though, that pales besides these three graphs which I have obtained courtesy of a link on the oil drum. The first details what the Congressional Budget Office thinks Americans will be able or prepared to pay in income taxes (presumably not including state taxes or mortgage debts or credit debts or college debts or price rises) in the coming decade; the second what the federal government will spend (as before, mutatis mutandis); and the third what they think will happen to unemployment.

All perfectly possible. And, of course, Rome will always be invincible and chariot production will always rise. Free silk and bananas for all!

I ask you. Never have so many 'Hail Marys' been offered up by non-catholics in vain....
