The Al-Qaeda Anthrax Scare
Back in 2001 and 2002, John McCain was telling David Letterman that there were indications that Iraq was in some behind the American anthrax attacks. George Bush's press spokesperson was telling the world that the president was taking an interest in the fact that somebody was trying to poison highly important Americans, and postmen, with anthrax. The British government, after anthrax threats in Britain, made similar noises.
It now turns out that an employee of the American government, acting 'irresponsibly' with the American biological weapons Richard Nixon tried to ban, was allegedly responsible for the American attacks.
I say allegedly because, once identified last week, the lone ranger who committed the crimes apparently took a massive overdose in hospital and is dead.
In Britain, a chemistry teacher was jailed for his no doubt isolated and highly personal action against the Welsh First Secretary too, much sooner, although he has not had a similar accident.
