The Iranian Armada

There are now at least four battle groups en route to Iran, though the link which I have provided is not to a footnoted source ; indeed, its author appears to be a little tapped. However, the information it assembles is possible to check.

Please God, the events in Georgia won't be seen as a diversion to keep the Russians occupied. If they were, with China occupied with its Olympic Games, the war parties in Iran and America could find the temptation to blockade or to respond to manufactured provocation overwhelming. At least the American military isn't mad enough to follow the Cheney crowd's orders.

A Jacksonian Republican Party Democrats in the United States frequently lay claim to the heritage of Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. They present the two as tribunes of the revolutionary people, and Jefferson-Jackson dinners are often occasions at which aspiring candidates can strut their demotic stuff, as it were.
